Are Contacts Better Than Glasses?
Before we ever had contacts there were glasses. As someone who has had both of them in their life I feel it is acceptable to compare the differences between the two. I will share both the pros and cons of having both and then it’s up to you to decide which would be better for you.
Price
For the price of my glasses that I bought, the frames from my eye doctor were about $350 for both the frame and lens. But for my contacts that I also have cost about $360 to $840 annually. That also includes the cost of eye solution, contact cases, annual eye exams and new prescriptions.
Comfort
For comfort I prefer my contacts over glasses, because my glasses often give me headaches if I wear them for an extended period of time. With my contacts I do not have that issue. The only negative for my contacts is that they make my eyes really dry at random. They also go blurry too if they've been in too long. When I get something like an eyelash or something stuck in my eye it is a lot more painful and hard to get the thing out if I have my contacts in, with my glasses it’s easy I just rip them off.
Sports
For sports I would prefer my contacts over my glasses because I play golf which is a low-key laidback sport but I am out there in the wind and rain and I wouldn't want to worry about not being able to see out of my glasses because there are too many rain droplets on my lenses. Wearing my contacts makes it easy; they are also nice in the summer when I wear my visor or a hat. I don't have to worry about my glasses getting in the way. I did however play basketball in high school and that is a pretty high contact sport so I would make sure to always wear my contacts for that. I didn’t want to risk my glasses breaking and having to buy new ones, however they do have the option of strapon glasses that look like goggles. I never bought a pair of those though, I know it’s not a beauty contest but they are just not cute.
Day to Day Convenience
For my daily use I will typically go with my contacts but sometimes I will want to give my eyes a break. I will wear my glasses or a day when I know I will be staying at home. My contacts I love because I know I am never going to have to worry about them getting in my way and once I put them in I normally forget about them. While with my glasses they slide down my face or get smudged and it is very annoying. But my glasses are super easy. I just throw them on whenever I need them. My contacts on the other hand are more of a hassle to wash my hands and try to put them in which can be challenging sometimes then also making sure I take them out every night because if I don't I can get an eye infection which I don't want.
